Does anyone have any shopping tips?

by admin on July 3, 2009

im talkin clothes shopping… i always buy stuff i don’t really want or i buy things waaay too expensive.

does anyone have any tips?

one thing i learned is to go to the stores like walmart and jcpenny’s first (sounds cheezy but sometimes they have nice things)

also is there anything you do with the clothes you already have that could save money? like sometimes i look through my clothes and just wearing a different tanktop makes a whole new outfit.

thanks a bunch!

Well, you could plan it out before you go shopping. Put yourself on a budget and only buy stuff that you absolutely need. Make a list if you want of clothing items that you need. Dont go past your budget! For clothes that you already have, you can rip up jeans, cut jeans into jean shorts, cut off sleeves on shirts, or simply wear new accessories with your outfits!

Put your old stuff for sale on ebay. We’re in a recession, stop buying things you don’t need.

ok shopping is like my sport so I have some good tips for you! well first of all I was kinda like you. I would buy things just to buy them. If you don’t absolutely love something then don’t buy it! I’m serious! you have to love it if you are going to spend $ on it! and second of all, the sales rack can have some great stuff…you just need to look! I am a bargain shopper…but a good one! I get lots of cute things for great deals! however, every once in a while if I absolutely love something but it is a bit pricey I will buy it to treat myself! I hope this helped :) good luck!

1. Have a plan. Check your closet and make a mental note of what you could use (e.g., a black turtleneck to go with menswear pants you own, etc.)

2. Set a budget. Knowing you can only pay $100 for a dress ahead of time will help you sort through the racks quicker.

3.Start early. For special occasions allow yourself at least two weeks prior to the event to find the dress. You’ll need extra time for shoes and accessories.

4. Dress for shopping. If you’ll be looking for a special occasion dress, try to wear or bring undergarments (strapless bra, etc.) to go with the style. Otherwise, wear easy on/off clothes. Also, styled hair and makeup will make looking at yourself in the dressing room mirror just that much easier.
.
5. Keep a blind eye to sales and promotions. Stores put enticing promotional items at the front. Chances are you’ll blow your budget right there unless you stay on task.

6.Accept a salesperson’s help. You may be surprised by how much time you’ll save you if you’ll give them some direction about what you’re shopping for.

7. Try it on. Walk, sit, bend in the clothes. Do they move easily? Are the seams pulling? Do zippers, buttons, etc. all function properly? Use the three-way mirror. Get an honest look at your rear and side views. Watch for extreme panty lines (too-tight pants), bunched up waist (too big) or other tell-tale signs of an ill-fitting garment.

8. Check the care tags. If laundry concerns matter to you, then you may want to do this while browsing. Otherwise, see how much care the item is going to require.

9.Check the return policy. Many stores don’t give cash back, just a store credit; but some mark sale items "final sale" which means you can’t bring them back at all.

10. Avoid buying items you can’t return for at least a store credit.

11. Never buy anything that doesn’t fit perfectly. The only exceptions are pants/skirts that can be easily altered for length at the hem.

12. t’s not a bargain — even at 90% off — unless you actually have some way to work it into your existing wardrobe.

13. bring these items:
Shopping list
Money: checks, cash, credit cards
A shoulderbag to keep hands free for shopping
Comfortable clothes and shoes for trying on and walking

you can go shopping with somebody who can stop u from buying expensive clothes… make sure its somebody who is determine who can stop you… and make like a maximum amount you’ll spend and maximum amount for every item ur going to want to buy.. or instead of going to the regular priced items, go to the back, clearance items… go to cheap stores like forever 21, rue 21, etc.. outlet stores usually have the clearance stuff… if you want to go even cheaper, go to thrift stores.. you can buy or find like a hat, a cardigan, a vest, or a belt or a tanktop, something and wear it with something that matches.. that could change the whole outfit… if there are things that you bought that you absolutely dont need, or only wore once, go have a garage sale or sell it on ebay, you’ll get money and u can spend the money to buy NECESSARY stuff. (notice NESSECARY)
